About The Business

This business grew from a vital need for dedicated mold inspectors who specialize in providing holistic, thorough evaluations. My goal is to legitimize the understanding of mold risks and mold-related illnesses while helping Arkansans maintain healthy, mold-free homes.

Currently, the State of Arkansas has no statewide standards or definitions for mold inspections. While this offers some flexibility, the drawback is that without mandated standards, there is no minimum requirement for what an "inspection" actually entails. Often, clients receive services that are not in-depth or are limited strictly to testing without context.

To ensure accountability and transparency, I have chosen to adhere to a strict third-party Standard of Practice and Code of Ethics. This provides a reproducible approach so that you receive consistent, thorough, and defensible results. I follow a clear scope of work, use established scientific methods, and report objective findings. This allows you to compare inspections fairly and make confident decisions about remediation. (You can view the full Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics on my dedicated page.)

The Process

My inspection is a methodical evaluation of the home with a heavy emphasis on identifying water and moisture within the building envelope. Because a home is a "system of systems," evaluating each component paints a complete picture. Once you find the moisture, you find the mold. My typical workflow is top-to-bottom, outside-to-inside, and front-to-back.

As I gain an understanding of the home's unique environment, the root cause of the mold issue usually becomes clear—or, in some cases, we determine that a mold issue doesn't exist at all.

Building Science

A deep understanding of building science is critical to my process. By understanding how moisture and air behave within a structure, I can identify root causes, differentiate between past and active issues, and recommend remediation that prevents recurrence.

Testing

During the inspection, I may collect samples to be analyzed by an independent laboratory. While not always necessary, lab testing allows us to compare pre- and post-remediation samples against objective standards. This confirms whether remediation was successful and provides documented evidence for your records.

Documentation and Delivery

Every inspection includes a comprehensive written report. This is a crucial tool for understanding my findings and provides a tangible snapshot of your home's health. Each report documents every system inspected, as well as all concerns and conditions found.

Remediation Verification

Follow-ups and verifications are standard practice for my process and are largely built into my fees. This includes providing a tailored remediation protocol, verifying that proper practices were followed, and ensuring the cleanup meets acceptable health standards.

Service Area

My primary service area is the Arkansas River Valley, including Fort Smith, Conway, Ozark, Clarksville, Russellville, Paris, and Alma. I am happy to travel to ensure your home is safe. If you are unsure if I serve your town, please call or text—I'm ready to make the trip to help you.
